… icon design for network of Dutch War Archives (netwerk oorlogsbronnen). For their search portal it was needed to show an icon when there wasn't a picture of the searched-for object. I decided to illustrate the icons in the style of the war age. Sound, audio-visual, book, person, article, photograph, archive, building and object. For the 'person'-icon I chose to draw Boy Ecury, a forgotten Aruban WOII-resistance activist, executed in 1944. For the other half I chose Helen Colijn, a Dutch lady born in the UK who started a choir for prisoners in a Japanese camp in Indonesia in 1942. We (together with partner Zeezeilen) won the Guru award for "website of the day" ...
